MEMENTO MORI
All text is set in Forevs, designed by James Edmonson, in the styles Medium and Regular. Icons were all self generated using Adobe Illustrator and placed into Adobe InDesign for formatting and typesetting.
With the goal of creating a set of unique icons alongside a brochure style collateral, I created a booklet and icon set surrounding four late winter blooms. Through my initial research on the flowers I discovered their folklore and importance as symbolism for rebirth and remembrance. I also discovered how as a result of that symbolism they are often planted at cemeteries. Drawing from my research, I developed the concept of the icons as stone engravings. This decision led me to the engraving style typeface Forevs, the shape of my collateral as a gravestone, and the treatment of type to match the visual language already found in gravestones.
